Our History

Founded in 1976, Intrawest began as a residential and urban real estate firm. In the mid-1980s the company developed a unique marriage of mountain resort operations and real estate expertise. Today, Intrawest has interests in 11 resorts at North America's most popular mountain destinations, including Whistler Blackcomb, a host venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Intrawest network also includes Canadian Mountain Holidays, the largest heli-skiing operation in the world, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Florida and Club Intrawest—a private resort club with 8 locations in North America and Europe.

Intrawest's world-class assets have truly become premier destinations through the passion of more than 22,000 employees. Our success and growth comes from combining spectacular resort locations with creative and motivated people who constantly strive to ensure that our resorts are the most animated and exciting playgrounds in the world.

Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Intrawest is a privately held company and a wholly owned subsidiary of a corporation that is indirectly owned by the Fortress Funds.
